8th grade students from Harrison Central Junior High School recently visited the Harrison Career Center for a "career day" to see the programs that will be available to them as they enter high school. The 8th graders were divided into small groups so they could get an "up close and personal" view of all the programs offered: Connections (9th grade), Occupational Lab (10th grade), Agricultural Mechanics (11th, 12th grade), Welding (11th, 12th grade), Marketing (11th, 12th grade) and Hospitality & Facility Care Services (10th, 11th, 12th grade). They were able to see current students in action and projects that they complete in each program.
Pictured, seated at the computers, are Occupational Lab students Shylo Tanner, left, and Coralee Chaffin. They are demonstrating to the 8th graders how to program a CNC router to design various projects during the class.
8th grade students are now able to sign up to enter the Connections program next year as a freshman. They can get an application from their guidance counselor or on-line through the Career Center's website.
