Students from the Belmont Career Center displayed their programs of study at the Belmont College STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Expo for Belmont, Harrison and Monroe County 8th grade students in March.
Pictured, from left, are Jacob Windsheimer, Shadyside, and Charlie Kulazenka, Shadyside, representing the Welding program; Justin Hartley, Harrison Central, and Cody Russell, Martins Ferry, representing the PC & Network Technology program; and Macy Wise, Barnesville, and Jennifer Bonnette, Martins Ferry, representing the Visual Graphics & Web Design program.
Research shows that during the middle school years, a student's interest in math and science may begin to wane. The purpose of the STEM Expo is to increase student awareness for a variety of STEM careers. STEM jobs are the jobs of the future, being essential for developing our technological innovation and global competitiveness.
The event was organized by Crissy D'Aquila, Tech Prep Coordinator.
