Erik Williams Takes Fourth Place


HCC Student Places At Competition

Erik Williams, a senior in the Welding program at the Harrison Career Center, placed fourth overall at the Mid-East Career & Technical Center's annual Regional Weld-Off Competition held on April 12. The contest took place at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 495 in Cambridge.

All welds were inspected by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and went through a destructive bend test. Williams earned his American Welding Society (AWS) D1.5 certification in the process. In addition, he won a Lincoln Electric backpack, a pair of Lincoln and Matheson welding gloves and a Lincoln skull cap. The welding instructor is Greg Guthrie.
