Wehr Speaks to Science Classes

Devan Coleman's science classes at the Belmont Career Center listened to a presentation about careers in the science field--especially those pertaining to natural resources and environmental sciences.

Nate Wehr, who graduated from Barnesville High School, completed his B.A. at Oberlin College in biology before attaining his M.S. at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. He will now pursue his Phd at SUNY ESF in Syracuse, where his research focus will be on the community ecology of Isle Royale wolves and their sister ecosystem in northern Minnesota.

Wehr's past experiences with collaring deer to check for chronic waste disease seemed to interest many students and opened their eyes to career fields never introduced to them before. He is the son of current English teacher at the Belmont Career Center, Gina Wehr.
